Articles on: Receiving - Cash Balance

What is the Cash (USD) balance, and how can I use it?

The Cash Balance is your main wallet inside Onboard. Think of it as your USD hub - it's where most of your money lands, and where you manage it from.

Money comes in via stablecoins (USDT/USDC), Nigerian Naira (NGN named account), US dollars (USD named account), British Pounds (GBP named account) or Euros (EUR named account). No matter how it arrives, everything converts to USD.

Money goes out to bank accounts, crypto wallets, your cards, or your crypto wallets. You can also move funds to your Trading or DeFi Wallet.

Key things to know:

  • It's USD-denominated - all balances are shown and held in USD
  • Non-USD deposits are converted at the live rate when they arrive
  • It's separate from your card balances - you'll need to fund cards from here or from other sources

You don't need to "set up" the Cash Balance — it's available as soon as your identity verification is approved.

However, to receive funds in a specific currency, you'll need to set up that currency first. Tap Add (or View bank details) on your Cash balance and select the currency you want:

  • Stablecoins (USDT/USDC): Select the token and network to view your deposit address
  • NGN: Set up your NGN named account to get bank details in your name
  • USD: Set up your USD named account (requires additional verification)
  • GBP: Set up your GBP named account (requires photo ID, and proof of income if applicable)
  • EUR: Set up your EUR named account (requires photo ID, and proof of income if applicable)

Each currency is set up independently - you only need to set up the ones you want to receive.
