What are Onboard Cards and where can I use them?
Onboard offers USD virtual Visa cards (called Flex Cards) that let you pay for things online and in-store around the world.
What you can do with your Flex Card:
- Pay online at most merchants where Visa is accepted — Amazon, Netflix, Google Ads, ChatGPT, Spotify, Airbnb, and 40,000+ other platforms
- Pay in-store via Apple Pay or Google Pay (tap-to-pay)
- Create up to 3 cards to organize your spending (e.g., "Subscriptions", "Shopping")
- Fund with stablecoins (USDT, USDC), local currency (NGN, IDR, KES), or from other Onboard balances
Key details:
- USD-denominated — your card balance is held in USD
- Cards must be funded before spending
- First card is free, additional cards cost $2 each
- Designed for reliable international payments with low FX fees ($0.30 + 1% on non-USD and cross-border transactions)
What about Classic Cards?
Classic Cards have been deprecated and are no longer available to create. If you had a Classic Card, it has either already been deactivated or will be soon — see our migration guide for details.

Where Onboard Cards Don’t Work
- Sanctioned or restricted countries
- High-risk merchant categories (gambling, adult services, some crypto platforms)
- Merchants blocked due to compliance or fraud rules
- Apps or services that enforce regional restrictions (even if Visa is accepted). See here
- Note: In-store payments may not work in all regions due to POS terminal restrictions in that region.
For a full list of unsupported countries, see here.
