How Do I Become Eligible for a Flex Card?

The Flex Card is available to users who meet a few simple requirements. If you don’t see the Flex Card option in your app, here’s what it means and what you can do next.

1. You must be verified with a photo ID

To apply for a Flex Card, your Onboard account must be verified using a supported photo ID, such as an international passport (recommended), national ID, or driver’s license.

If your verification wasn’t completed with a photo ID, or it was done using a method not supported for Flex, you’ll see a “Flex cards are coming to you soon” screen.

From here, you can contact Support, and our team will guide you through re-verification so you can become eligible.

2. You must be in a supported region

Flex isn’t available in every country yet. If your region isn’t supported:

  • You won’t see the Flex Card option, or
  • You’ll see a message letting you know it’s not yet available

→ Check supported regions here: Prohibited Countries & Jurisdictions

3. You’ll answer a few simple questions during application

When you choose Flex, you’ll see a short set of questions (takes less than a minute).

These help confirm eligibility and make sure your setup is smooth.

If your Flex Card application isn’t approved

If your Flex application doesn’t go through:

  • You can still create a Classic Card
  • Any funds used during setup are returned to your Onboard USD balance
  • You won’t be able to retry Flex
